Thanks Tim for focusing more of your efforts on the 99ers! I enjoyed watching your show and learned a great deal in doing so. As always, you provide me with a great deal of insight into what is happening around us – politically and otherwise. This is an unprecedented (and continuing) difficult time for many Coloradoans, including tens of thousands of 99ers (millions across the country) – and the more that we educate ourselves andbegin to get involved in choosing our destiny/mappingour future (through community involvement, political action, etc,) the sooner we can begin to affect change. this is true for each and every one of us – so thatwe can find somehope inour own lives and inthe fuiture of America’s middle class -which is currently being stolen from us by the right-wing (and someleft-wing) bureaucrats, elitists and Corporate America thieves – all subjects which you are not afraid to address in your work.

I am looking forward to the new Tim Caffrey Show – and, in particular, the show dedicated to the growing ‘99er’ community in the State.

On behalf of all unemployed, Thank You, Tim for your willingness to tell our stories. This problem presents an episodoe of ‘Reality TV’ – which many mainstream media outlets are not willing to address…(however, I th ink that is beginning to change).

From the CDLE on Friday, 8/27/2010 re the drop in weekly UI claims: “It’s difficult to say what it means,” said Alexandra Hall, chief economist for the CDLE. “Are they returning to jobs or are they running out of benefits? It’s probably a mix, with more people running out of benefits than returning to jobs. – which is more good news because).

I am very encouraged by the recent comments coming from the CDLE which suggest that it is very likely that the number of UI claims has dropped NOT because people are finding jobs, but because they are running out of benefits.

Don’t get me wr…ong, that is not good news, but it is a shift in the way the labor department (in CO at least) is interpreting and – commenting on – UI claims data. The number of people exhausting their UI benefits is growing at an alarming rate – something the United Way is now publicly making comments about. http://witf.org/news/regional-and-state/4807-no….

If the CDLE is aware of the issue – and publicly making comments about this fact – then lawmakers are going to have to respond – and initiate dialogue about this growing problem. THAT is good news. To all unemployed: Please get involved and stop letting our elected ‘leaders’ get away with ignoring this issue.

One of the stark lessons from this disaster is that prudent regulation is essential for an economy to thrive.

Look at all the industries being devastated by this spill — fishing, tourism, etc. Ironically, even the oil industry and BP itself are taking a beating because of this spill. The only people who gained from the lax regulation that caused this spill are a handful of executives and wealthy investors/speculators who further enriched themselves with short-run profits while the rest of us are devastated by the long-run external costs of this disaster.

In other words:
Deregulation can’t solve the problem — deregulation IS the problem.

Maybe the Obama Administration should start a “Bailout Program for Hypocrites.” In order to receive any aid from the federal government, the governor of any state who had previously criticized the stimulus spending would have to fill out a form acknowledging that prior to this date he/she had been an “undocumented” hypocrite and now is applying for status as a “documented hypocrite.” Said application to be granted upon the expiration of 30 days of silence.

What we can hope for is a draw of votes away from GOP candidates by Ultra-Conservative Tea Party puppets. Look what happened in New York’s 23rd last November. The same thing looks like it may happen in Nevada for the upcoming Senate election. Anybody who hates on “big government” can run under the banner of the Tea Party. After attending the Obama speech in Denver on 2/18 there is no doubt that the man still has the ability to inspire, like few have ever done. But as the late Howard Zinn observed in The Nation just before his death:
“I think people are dazzled by Obama’s rhetoric, and that people ought to begin to understand that Obama is going to be a mediocre president–which means, in our time, a dangerous president–unless there is some national movement to push him in a better direction.”
