Cathy Kipp and Susan Gutowsky, Directors of the Poudre School District Board of Education were guests on my show to discuss the future of public education here in Colorado. These two women are passionate about ensuring that our children are given the opportunity as well as the assistance in being properly educated and trained to meet an ever more challenging world as America competes in a global economy.

I was impressed that these women are interested in making sure our children are given a well rounded education, rather than just training to be good test scorers. I believe students should be permitted to explore how culture as well as the performing arts along with the diversity that is America, is what makes us great.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Fort Collins, Colorado offers some of the best Live Theater performances in the Rocky Mountain Region. Bruce and Denise Freestone, founders of Open Stage Theatre and Company have been entertaining audiences for almost 40 years. I was able to catch up with them on the stage of the Magnolia Theater inside the Lincoln Center to ask them how do they keep the passion alive after so many years.

Once the conversation began, it was easy for me to understand, how these two extraordinary individuals still keep the audiences coming back for more, they love what the do! Their drive for perfection, passion to entertain and love of the Performing Arts is infectious and kept me wanting to know more. At the end of the interview my quest had been satisfied, we are very fortunate to have two such individuals as Bruce and Denise Freestone as well as others in the community that have a love, a passion and a dedication for producing high quality and entertaining Live Theatre performances.

I hope you enjoy the show.

Watch my exclusive one on one interview with United States Representative Jared Polis of Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District. It was my pleasure to host Rep. Polis on The Tim Caffrey Show as we discussed issues that are relevant to all Coloradans.

Since Congressman Polis is a strong advocate of education, I started the discussion by having him explain his tenure as a member of the Colorado Board of Education and his assistance with Amendment 23. We then discussed what his foundation (Jared Polis Foundation) is doing with regards to improving and expanding access to education. I then asked him to explain why he established The New America School system and how it contributes to the communities in which they are located.

I then moved the conversation to ask him why he ran for United States Congress in 2008 and how he is representing the constituents of Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District. From here, I asked him a series of questions that members of my audience have informed me they would like answered by politicians. Such as, what affect will Stop Internet Piracy Act (SOPA) have on the Internet, or, what affect will Citizens United versus the Federal Election Commission have on the 2012 Presidential election, where are the jobs that were promised after the 2010 mid-term election, ensuring that Social Security and Medicare will be available and finally, if the Federal Budget deficit is so important, why isn’t anyone discussing the enormous waste in the Military Industrial Complex and how this money could have been better spent on states as they struggle to balance their budgets.

The discussion was intense and lively and I’m certain you will find interesting as well as informative.

Enjoy!

Live theater is a great way to indulge the emotions, whether you prefer a Shakespearean tragedy such as Macbeth, or a sultry drama, like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, by Tennessee Williams, or maybe you prefer a comedy such as The Odd Couple by Neil Simon. Whatever your preference, Fort Collins has it and my next two guests, Wendy Ishii, Founder and Artistic Director and Dulcie Willis, Executive Director of the Bas Bleu Theatre Company will explain to me, the passion, drama and excitement, that is Live Theater.

This will certainly go down as one of my most memorable interviews as these two professional and dynamic women discuss with me how the Bas Bleu Theatre Company has been entertaining Fort Collins audiences for the past 20 years. From the moment I met Wendy and Dulcie, I knew something very special was happening inside the historic building located at 401 Pine Street in Old Town Fort Collins and I wasn’t dissappointed.

I believe, The Performing Arts and Live Theater in particular is the expression of a community, and after watching this interview, I think you will agree, the Bas Bleu Theatre Company is a must see when you are in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Enjoy!

Please watch this compelling story of one young man's journey from poverty and abuse to self-reliance through community involvement.

Please watch my exclusive interview with Jerri Howe and Alex Murphy, both of The Matthews House as they discuss the concept of Community Life Centers, that evolved from the concept of ”Settlement Houses” of mid 19th century England. Here in the United States the most famous being the Hull House established by Jane Addams.

But this show is much more than a history lesson, it is an inspirational story as Alex describes his journey from poverty and abuse to self-reliance through determination and hard-work and the involvement of a community that cares about its members.

I believe this is the essence of community, when members come together to help each other, great things can happen!

We at The Tim Caffrey Show believe that community awareness translates into community involvement, so please, get involved, volunteer, and together we can make Colorado a great place to live for all its citizens!

I hope you enjoy the show.

Exclusive one on one interview with Colorado State Senate President Brandon Shaffer as we discuss the economic future of Colorado.

I’m excited to announce my exclusive one on one interview with Colorado State Senator Brandon Shaffer, Senate President and representing Senate District 17, as we discussed Colorado’s economic future.

In the first segment we discussed Governor Hickenlooper’s “Colorado Blueprint” which is made up of six key components that are suppose to help promote economic development in Colorado. But the one I wanted to focus on was number 5 which states in-part, “educate and train the workforce of the future”. Now I found this component interesting when measured up against Senate Joint Resolution 10-002, “…that instructed the University of Denver to conduct a nonpartisan review of state and local government taxes (one that hasn’t been conducted of the state since the 1950’s)”. Check out the interview to see what the Summary of Phase 2 Findings had to say about cost cutting and raising revenues and Senator Shaffer’s comments.

In segment 2 of the show, I asked point blank why Senator Shaffer is running for Colorado Congressional District 4. We then discussed the House Republican 2012 budget (a.k.a. The Ryan Plan) and compared it to President Obama’s “American Jobs Act”, see what Senator Shaffer had to say.

With the national unemployment rate again moving back up to 9.2 percent in June, 2011, what affect will it have here in Colorado?

That’s why I invited Kathleen Gilliland, former mayor of Loveland, Colorado and current C0-Chairperson of the Larimer County, Colorado Workforce Investment Board onto the show to discuss what the employment picture looks like here in Colorado and Larimer County.

Kathy gave an indepth explanation of how the Workforce Investment Board interacts within the realm of Primary Employers, Service Providers, and Education/Training needs. Bringing all the parts together and understanding each aspect of the process so that businesses have an able and properly trained workforce is vital to the success of any community.

Kathy is very passionate about her efforts in assisting businesses that are either already established or are thinking of relocating to Larimer County, Colorado to make sure their needs are met with regards to a local workforce.

Mr. David Cobb, 2004 Green Party presidential candidate and national spokesperson for MoveToAmend.org was my guest on The Tim Caffrey Show discussing corporate person-hood and the ill effects that have been the result ever since the landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court in Citizens United versus the Federal Election Commission.

Should for-profit corporations have the same rights and privileges that WE THE PEOPLE were granted under the Constitution? That is the focal point of this episode of The Tim Caffrey Show and what every American should be asking themselves as we watch our jobs being sent overseas, Republicans wanting to lower taxes for the wealthy, while destroying Medicare and taking away Social Security from our senior citizens that worked all their lives to attain.

It is time for WE THE PEOPLE to get involved in the political process and get active. Watch this show and listen to what David has to say and then Sign the Motion!

In a recent article in the Huffington Post dated March 25, Colorado’s unemployment rate reached 9.3 percent in February, 2011. This was on top of the January numbers of 9.1 percent (higher than the national average)!

I was fortunate to have a guest on that was willing to discuss his recent layoff and what he is doing to find meaningful work in this world of job outsourcing, limited opportunities, and fierce competition.

Arne Jamtgaard is a local resident and has been in the Information Technology field for about 15 years. I was impressed with his proactive approach and positive attitude as he gives an insightful perspective on how to set yourself apart from the masses of people looking for work in a field that is extremely competitive and constantly evolving.

It was an inspiring conversation and one that you should watch if you have been recently laid off or are one of the 99er’s and have given up on the American dream!

I would like to dedicate this show to the 99er’s of Colorado, these are our friends, neighbors and loved ones that have been forgotten by the bureaucrats in Washington D.C.!

Until next time, and remember…stay progressive!
