This is the second show I have produced and hosted for Larimer County, Colorado Department of Human Services discussing the concept of Community Life Centers and how they will interact within the community.  In the first show, I interviewed Jerri Howe, Founder and Executive Director of The Matthews House and Alex Murphy, former youth at The Matthews House and now a member of the Board of Directors.

In this segment, I wanted to explore in more detail how Community Life Centers could assist single parent families and grand-families in becoming self-reliant. 

Joining me on the show were, Shelley Duckett, Linda Tanner and Jerri Howe, all are members of the Larimer County Family Consumer Council with Jerri being the Co-Chairperson. 

 First I asked Jerri to give us a brief update on the opening of the Community Life Center here in Fort Collins and then Shelley discussed her life story and the obstacles she faces every day in being a single mother and raising a family and how a Community Life Center would benefit her as well as others.  Next, Linda Tanner explained what a grand-family is and how a Community Life Center will give assistance and a helping hand to community members of all ages.  Jerri explained in detail how this Community Life Center will work with other agencies and non-profits in offering weekend as well as after hour services and not duplicate services already offered in our community.
